At Yesler Terrace, the Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) is replacing Seattle’s oldest public housing complex with a high density, mixed-use neighborhood. SHA will replace 561 existing subsidized housing units and add approximately 4,000 new units at a range of income levels on the 37-acre site. SvR is leading the landscape architecture and civil engineering of the infrastructure and open space. A network of complete streets will link residents to a new streetcar line and knit Yesler Terrace into the surrounding community. Streets, parks and gardens will work together as a vibrant and connected public realm. SvR was involved in writing the Planned Action EIS, budgeting and costing, phasing analysis, and the development of entitlement and cost sharing strategies. SvR is currently working with SHA and city departments in identifying bid packages for the 2014 construction season.
