In collaboration with NBBJ Architecture, SvR has been providing integrated landscape architecture and civil engineering for the Yale Avenue Campus in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. This three-block development will use a variety of green infrastructure strategies to make a functional, flexible, and aesthetic landscape by controlling stormwater discharge into Lake Union.

Along Yale Avenue, a water-quality treatment swale is proposed that will attenuate and treat stormwater from the adjacent roadway and improve the retail experience for adjacent store owners. At the end of Yale, a woonerf will act as a pedestrian plaza that creates a focal space for the adjacent building. This expansive public space uses stormwater channels to articulate the space and create a rain garden enclosure that blocks the traffic noise and views to the I-5 on ramp.
