UNIVERSITY DISTRICT ALLEY ACTIVATION | SEATTLE, WA

Owner/Client: Seattle Department of Transportation
SvR Role: Landscape Architecture & Planning
SvR Fee: $50,000
Start Date: 2013
End Date: Ongoing

SvR is supporting the University District and SDOT to prepare a concept plan with the goal of increasing pedestrian/active use of U-Distric alleys between NE 42nd and NE 45th Sts and University Way NE and 15th Ave NE. Using the site assessment and community input, SvR is creating a streetscape concept plan, and a report with a list of prioritized recommendations for improvement. These recommendations will include thorough cost estimates, identification of implementation issues associated with each recommendation, and identification of any potential “fatal flaws”. The report should include recommendations for improvements that can be undertaken by the City in the public right of way and by private property owners on private property. The streetscape concept plan should be prepared for use in initial SDOT Street Improvement Permitting review.
