Integrated Design

At SvR, we approach design integration differently – both philosophically and physically. Regardless of whether our clients hire us for one or all of our services, our designers and planners collaborate on each others’ projects, an approach that fosters a holistic perspective and sharpens our creative abilities. To further promote a collaborative atmosphere, our planners, landscape designers, and civil engineers are intermingled to encourage cross-disciplinary learning. This approach to design integration results in an improved product for our clients as well as designs that reflect a broad, innovative system design.

Civil Engineering
SvR’s civil engineers specialize in the planning and design of solutions that promote healthier environments and sustainable systems. We manage innovative site development projects; Complete Street + projects that celebrate community, mobility, and green infrastructure; and stormwater systems, where bioretention, natural drainage systems, aquifer recharging, and stormwater conveyance are applied. We also excel at connecting new technologies to conventional systems.

Landscape Architecture
Our landscape approach, where design reflects an authentic and meaningful place that is rooted in a landscape’s potential as well as its bioregional characteristics. This approach reveals a landscape aesthetic grounded in environmental performance and rewards our clients with a landscape that contributes to their community on many levels.

Environmental Restoration
SvR’s focus on sustainable design lends itself equally well to the restoration of our urban and natural environments. On an urban level, we work with planners, public works officials, and architects to restore natural functioning to urban environments through a variety of green infrastructure systems: green roofs, rain gardens, rain water harvesting, and natural stormwater systems. In rural or remote areas, we mitigate development’s impact by designing seamless interfaces and by restoring contaminated wetlands, streams, and ponds.

Planning
Creative approaches and sustainable futures begin with plans, studies, and preliminary analyses. SvR leads planning efforts and partners with others to set the foundation for healthy community, city, state, and federal agency development. Depending on the client, we will work on projects that range from pedestrian master plans to sustainable strategy master plans for counties and cities.
