Failing sanitary sewer and water distribution utilities were the impetus for the City of Bainbridge Island’s Winslow Way restoration project. In designing the complete street improvements for Winslow Way, SvR’s design responsibilities included water and sanitary sewer distribution systems. As Winslow Way is a destination location on Bainbridge Island with many small, locally owned businesses, substantial effort was placed on temporary and bypass systems to maintain business hours during construction. Design included relocation of the sewer from an easement under an existing condominium complex into the public right-of-way.
