MERCER ISLAND FIRE STATION 92 | SEATTLE, WA

MERCER ISLAND FIRE STATION 92 | SEATTLE, WA

Owner: The City of Mercer Island
Client: Miller Hull
SvR Role: Landscape Architecture & Civil Engineering
SvR Fee: $14,000
Start Date: 4/2012
End Date: 5/2015

SvR supported the Miller Hull architecture team with landscape architecture and civil engineering services on Mercer Island’s newest fire station. The team developed a replacement facility that improves conditions for firefighters and makes a strong visual invitation for visitors to this civic building. Site features include drought tolerant native and edible landscaping, a subtle “ladder” paver pattern along the main entry, streetscape improvements and new utility connections.  Flush-set LED strips in the sidewalk crossing the main driveway carry the ladder-theme across the site and provide nighttime illumination for pedestrians.  The LED strips also function as warning lights, turning red to indicate a fire truck is preparing to leave the station.
