| SvR assisted the City of Kirkland in defining LID opportunities for the 2006-2011 Capitol Improvement Projects (CIP). Using multiple evaluative criteria, SvR’s
civil engineers and landscape architects identified a number of projects that would benefit from an LID approach and quantified the benefits for the City of Kirkland in terms of stormwater management, human health, and aesthetic performance. We worked closely with public works staff during two charrettes and prepared initial cost estimates. We also provided the Kirkland City Council with the tools necessary to implement sustainable capital improvement expenditures.
Evaluation measures for the LID Feasibility Study included:
- Conventional versus LID Cost Comparison
- Pollutant Removal Capabilities
- Project Evaluation Matrix
Since finishing the feasibility study in late 2007, three of the 10
capital improvement projects SvR looked at have moved into design: 99th
Pl. NE/100th Ave, Park Lane, and 116th Ave. NE.
