Streets for people is the name of the game in Copenhagen's "potato rows" (Kartoffelrækkerne in Danish). The streets here are narrow, and place the focus on people and community as much as cars, using such features as plantings, raised and varied paving surfaces, and tables and chairs. In the first in an occasional series of Not-So-Wide Streets, we head north to Juneau, Alaska's Carroll Way. Now this is a pedestrian-oriented street: just wide enough for a set of stairs, sneaking down off the hillside.
