SvR led the master planning, public outreach and design for the Appleway Trail, a shared use path on County-owned 2-mile, 25-acre stretch of formerrail and utility corridor. SvR created a conceptual design plan that casts a vision to transform this underutilized corridor into a high-quality regional amenity and neighborhood asset. As part of the planning process, SvR hosted a variety of community conversations including two public open houses and a City staff design charette. Residents and City staff shared insights and concerns regarding long-term feasibility and the financial and operational success of programming throughout corridor. The conceptual design report enlivens the corridor with community gardens, playspaces, public art, plazas, perennial gardens and connector trails. Over time, the Appleway Trail will become a treasured asset in the heart of the Spokane Valley community where residents and visitors of all ages and abilities can interact, relax, enjoy and watch. SvR continues to work with the City of Spokane Valley as they move towards construction of the Appleway Trail.
